Newspapers
The reason circulation has decreased is because it is becoming more accessible to get the products online.
Broadsheet
- Formal
- Factual
- Political
Tabloid
- Less formal
- More gossip-based
--- The sun
News Corp --- News UK --- the times
--- The Sunday times
The independent
- No longer a paper copy as of 2006
- They have tabs on the website to help their readers find what they want
For tabloid newspapers, I would classify them as A/B audiences, the age is for 20-30-year-olds,
Whereas for Broadsheet newspapers, I would classify them as C1 and C2, the age is for 40-60-year-olds.
Graphs
The graph on slide 29 shows the comparison between peoples newspaper consumption between a weekday and a weekend. It indicates that there is a reoccurring theme of newspaper consumption declining. As of recent times, there have been more significant decreases due to the information being able to be accessed from easier places such as online.
Questions
1. Readership is who the readers of the magazine or book. This can refer to the demographic, this include; age, gender, race etc.
2. One difference is that the sun has a larger male readership than the daily mail. The evidence of this is the fact the sun has 2692 male readers, compared to the daily mails 1742 male readers, this is due to the sun having a sports section which interests male readers more. Another difference is that the sun has a higher NRS social grade reading their newspapers compared to the daily mails. The sun has 3010 readers in the grade of C2DE compared to the daily mails 1301.
3. One newspaper is The times, due to the times low social grading of ABC1 it shows that the newspaper has a larger political and factual content in it. This is because if there is a higher grade such as C2DE then it would mean it has a more social and gossip section.
Another newspaper is the daily mirror, due to the daily mirrors higher NRS social grade it shows that the content involved in this more social and gossip-based and has less content on politics and less factual articles.
